I See Angels Everywhere...

Back to back parties!! Last week was the Red & White party and this week is the White Party. It was organised by a group called the International Student Party. I love going to these parties coz it gives me the chance to meet international students here in Adelaide.

Sumi decided to go to this party! Yay!!! We met up with Sharan at the party. She brought her friend Suneeta along. Another Malaysian. Looks like we're building our Malaysian circle. The party was awesome. They had this black light thingy so everyone who wore white was glowing!

You can't have a party without cam-whoring session can you?

Credits to the photographer..

Wait, we're not ready!!

Love these guys..

The Show Is In Town!!

This was my first time going to the Royal Adelaide Show. Apparently it's a big thing here. Schools get 1 day off so that they can go for the show. And some work places give their employees a day off so that they can take their kids to the show.

I went there with my housemate Sumi. Basically it's like our Pesta, but much more organised and CLEANER!!! I didn't go on any of the rides though. It's pretty much the same thing everywhere. But what really caught my eye were the exhibitions. There was one fashion show by a New Zealand designer, Jenny Gillies. OMG her clothes are so beautiful. The theme is fruits, veges and flowers. We weren't allowed to take pics of the show, but I did manage to find some pics from the net. Amazing costumes, funky music and cheeky dance moves made the show amazing!

After the show, we checked out other exhibitions. There was one exhibition on olden day clothing. Pretty cool.

And OMG there was this huge exhibition room just selling Showbags. I felt like a kid in a candy store!! I went around hunting for Elmo. Found him, but he was darn expensive. So i decided to get Stewie and Smurfette instead. :)

That's not the half of it..
Elmo!!!
Stewie!!
At exactly 9pm, Sumi and I went out to watch the fireworks display. It was so prrrrty. Went on for bout 10 minutes.

After the show we went for some Chinese food. That pretty much sums up my day.

The Red & White Party

I went for the Red & White party today. It was organised by a group called the Adelaide Internationals. They organise parties and events for international students in Adelaide. One of my good friends, Arthur was part of the team that organised today's party and he gave me a free ticket (totally sweet of him).

A lot of drama prior and during the party. Lets just say I'm glad I have such good friends that stick by me no matter what. :) 2 good things came out of today's party.

1. I met two lovely people, Felix and Sharan.

Felix is from Germany. He's already back home sadly

Sharan is from Malaysia. I finally found my hangout kaki.

2. My picture came out in the local paper!!! I guess partying has its perks.

They got my name wrong!!! lol
That's Arthur by the way. Awesome guy. We share the same bday!!
And that's Hommer. Finally able to meet up with him after all the drama prior to the party.
Despite the drama, overall it was a pretty awesome party. Had lotsa fun with them.

I TuRnEd 21!!!

It's my 21st birthday today!! I know I'm supposed to go out party, get drunk and do all those crazy things, but I decided to have a quiet birthday with close ones.

I was Skyping with my parents on 18th night, and exactly 12a.m. on my birthday, my lovely housemates gave me a huge surprise. They brought out a cake and started singing happy birthday to me. I wasn't expecting that at all! And my parents were online at that time, so you can say I blew out the candles in their presence.. sort of.. :)

On the night of my birthday, 3 of my friends and I went to a Thai Restaurant. The decor was amazing. Felt like carrying those artefacts home. Oh yeah, and my housemate, Sumi, surprised me with another cake!

A few days after my birthday, I went to my uncle's house to celebrate my birthday with my aussie family. I love them so much. They crack me up all the time! They gave me lotsa presents and another cake. ♥

So in total, I celebrated my birthday 3 times. I have to say, this is the most memorable birthday I've ever had. Not to mention I conquered "Free Bird" on Guitar Hero, easy and medium levels. Who needs booze when you have lovely friends and family right?

Wonder how next year is gonna be like...hmm...

My First Party in Adelaide..

Hey guys.. if you've read my previous posts, you'd probably know that I've been bummed out about not being able to go out and have fun. Well, I finally realised that I should just stop sulking and do something about it. So, I came across this event page on Facebook (total life saver) about a party for international students. And I said hey, what the hell, may as well go check it out since one of my friends is going for it. And so I did.

I'm not much of a party girl, eventhough some you are going like "pffft... yeah right".. seriously.. I don't party unless I've nothing better to do or when I just wanna go chill after handing in a 1000 word assignment. Anyway, this is my first party in Adelaide. Was pretty pumped up about it.

The party was awesome. Met some of my Uni friends there and lotsa other international students. The one thing I like about Aussie parties is that strictly No Smoking! Yay!!!! I can breathe without feeling like my years have been cut by half. It was pretty cool when all a sudden there was a dance-off and a limbo.. lol

Some random guys I met at the party..
I had lotsa fun and I decided I'm gonna go for more of these International Student parties..

Dinner & Karaoke Night

Ok, I know you guys were wondering why I've been A.W.O.L. for so long. Don't worry, I'm alive and kicking. Just been pretty busy with Uni and well mostly Uni. So, as requested by my awesome friends, I've decided to start blogging again ( thanks for your support. You know who you are :) )

Despite the title, I didn't sing. As some of you might be scratching your heads and asking yourselves "Does she sing?  I didn't know that she sings". I DON'T sing. Well maybe in the shower I do. The Dinner and Karaoke Night was organised by the Malaysian Association here in Adelaide. Yeah.. I didn't know they had one either. lol. It was a last minute decision to go, but I'm really glad I went. Met lotsa lovely people at the dinner. Not to mention awesome food and entertainment.

When I say Karaoke Night, I didn't mean your drunk uncle singing at weddings. These people are pretty good singers I must say. I sure enjoyed the good show. And the photographers made me feel like I'm a celebrity for a day.

I really hope to go to more of these parties. Especially those organised by the Malaysian Association. Makes me proud to be a Malaysian ( a little bit cheesy.. I know I know..). It's good to see people not forget their heritage and culture despite where they live.

Here are some pictures from the dinner:

Good Friday

Hey guys... So its Good Friday and we decided to go the Victor Harbour. Mona's friend came over from Melbourne so we thought we would just show him around Adelaide.

The view in Victor Harbour was amazing. We saw a cute lil pony at the side of the beach. Felt so sorry for it. Just felt like kidnapping it and setting it free. We also saw 2 camels on the beach. Never in my life I would have imagined seeing camels on the beach.

Once we reached Granite Island, we decided to sit down for a cup of coffee and snacks. I ordered the Irish Cream Cheesecake. It was orgasmic!! On the way back from Granite Island, we decided to check out the fairy penguins. They are the smallest species of penguins in the world.

After Victor Harbour, we headed to Port Elliot. As luck would have it, when we wanted to head to McLaren Vale, the car wouldn't start. We were fortunate enough to meet some nice people to help us out. They invited us to their house for a cup of tea. Aussie people are awesome!!!

Upon reaching Adelaide we decided to eat some spicy Indian food for dinner...yum!!!

This sums up what has been bothering me...

Ok, this is just a post bout what has been bothering me recently (apart from Uni and Assignments). I've been sitting at home every fucking day. There's just so many things I wanna do. I wanna explore the city, I wanna go shopping, I wanna party, I wanna go to the beach, I wanna see dolphins, I wanna watch concerts...and the list just goes on. But the problem is, for me to do these things I need kaki...and my kaki are all busy with their own stuff. And I don't really hang out with my uni friends. Why? well, because I don't know them that well. Plus, they've been here for some time already. They have their own group of friends, and I feel weird just budding in.

My study break is 2 weeks away. I have like 2 weeks plus break. WTH am I gonna do during the break? I can finish my studies within a week. Should I get a job? yeah right...who's gonna hire a girl with no working experience for 2 weeks? Should I go to Melbourne? Again, the problem is I need kaki...damn I miss my Malaysia friends. If I say lets go out, they will be like "Kia, lets go". I guess you don't appreciate something till you lose it eh.

Anyway, that's what has been bothering me. Any suggestions guys?

Mount Lofty

Hey guys, I know I know, it's kinda late for blogging bout my trip to Mount Lofty. Sorry for the procrastination, but I was really busy with Uni stuff. Uni life is not as easy going as movies portray it to be. So anyway, back to the topic.

Mona and I went to Mount Lofty last Saturday, which was the 5th, if I'm not mistaken. We went on a one day trip organized by Words on Wheels and Study Adelaide. The trip was pretty cheap considering we went to a few places plus free BBQ.

Our first stop was a vantage point in Mount Lofty. The view was amazing. We had a bird's eye view of Adelaide. I never realised how organized the city was. It's like a huge square. Honestly! The weather was freezing up there. It was 10 degrees! Mona and I were trying so hard to keep a straight face when taking pictures.

After that we headed to Cleland Wildlife Park. We fed kangaroos and Koalas!!! This is my first time feeding Australia's signature animals. I'm sounding like a tourist right now. :) But my god, the kangaroos and koalas are so cute!!! And not to mention fuzzy...We took some pictures with a koala named Teddy. How cute is that, they named him after a famous bear. lol.

We didn't feed the Emus though. They were scary and they made a funny noise. They looked evil with their creepy eyes and sharp beak. It kept chasing us for food. They kept coming close to us in groups, like some kinda Italian mafia ready to attack us. Scary! We saw many species of birds as well. Mona was attacked by a stupid overprotective bird. Don't worry...Mona is fine.

By the time we finished Cleland Park we were super hungry. The tour guide took as to a BBQ park but the BBQ wasn't working, so we had to take a detour to a kiddy farm. The tour guide made us promise not to tell anyone this. :P

We headed to Hahndorf for some window shopping after the awesome BBQ. Hahndorf is the oldest German town in Australia. Or so I think. I don't know, I wasn't paying attention...as usual...We made our way to one of the wineries after Hahndorf. Did a lil bit of wine tasting. Safe to say I managed to control myself. Didn't get tipsy or drunk. Huge achievement for me.

Overall, it was a great trip. I would definitely go again. This time I might go strawberry picking if the weather isn't scorching hot. Stay tuned for my next escapade. Au Revoir...

Adelaide Fringe

Bonjour...Hey guys, I'm back to report on my latest adventure. The Adelaide Fringe is back again. This is the first time I attended the Fringe. The opening ceremony was on the 18th. As luck would have it, it was raining heavily on that day. Nonstop pouring since the morning. But Mona (my housemate) and I went anyway.

The opening ceremony parade was cancelled, sadly, in fear of the safety of the street performers. Thankfully by the time we reached Rymill Park the rain had stopped. We managed to catch a Aboriginal band perform. They were pretty good I have to say. Too bad there weren't many people to give their support. Again, because of the bloody rain.

The next day we went again. This time it was packed, since the weather was lovely and not a cloud in the sky. We heard many local acts. One of which was Jess Beck. She is a local girl who is living in Sydney. She sounds amazing. Can't seem to find any of her songs though. Blast!

The Fringe is on for about 3 weeks or so. Hope I get to catch other acts. I'll keep you guys posted. Au Revoir~

Barossa Valley...

Since we were just sitting around doing nothing, they suggested we go wine tasting in Barossa Valley. Barossa Valley is about 2hrs drive from Adelaide. The scenery en route to Barossa Valley was amazing. But since it’s summer now, a lot of the greenery are all dried up. I reckon it would look breathtaking during Spring.

We stopped by one of the vineyards for wine tasting. This was my first wine tasting. I think I wasn’t doing it right. Since no one else was there, so who cares? I just did my thing.  I love one of the white wines, but I can’t remember the name. Damn! If you wanna get drunk  for free, just go to all of the vineyards for wine tasting. Lol.

We only went to one vineyards. After that we just went sightseeing in the little towns in Barossa Valley. It was like something out of a movie. It was really quite and the buildings were really old. We dropped by a second hand shop/museum. We saw a lot of cool weird vintage things. I even saw the dresses they wore in the 1940s. It looked amazing with the sequins and embroidery.

After all that sightseeing, we went to a local tavern for lunch. The portions were huge, and the amazing thing is those were just entre. You can only imagine how big the large would be.

That’s pretty much what I did in a week. There will be more to come. I’m gonna be living in Australia for 2yrs. ;) Next, Adelaide Fringe maybe? Yeah..I would so love that…

Adelaide Museum...

Today we went to the museum. Everything is just conveniently located in the city. We can just hop on a train or tram and go from one place to another. Easy peasy. So anyway, we went to the Adelaide Museum. We checked out the mammal exhibit, the Aboriginal exhibit, the deep-sea exhibit and there were other exhibits but just didn’t have enough time. The museum closes at 5pm.

After that we went over to Rundle Mall. It was so tempting. Everything was so darn cheap. But sadly, I walked away with nothing. Didn’t have a single AUD with me. Mom and dad’s elaborate plan to stop me from shopping maybe? I don’t know…All I know is I’m so going back there. And this time, I will come prepared. Again, we didn’t spend much time there because everything closes at 5pm. Bummer!

We hopped on a train back to uncle’s place. There was one junkie on the train, and honestly, I feared for my life. Well, maybe that’s a little bit exaggerated. But still, it was pretty scary. He looked like some messed up psychotic Russian dude high on something. He kept giving me those weird blank stares. Scary~

We are both leos... :)

Aboriginal Art...Lovely

Artificially deformed heads (don't ask me why)...

Creepy looking masks...

Don't know what this is but it makes me laugh...
